Large Format Archival Prints
2003–present

Since 2003, Bjarne Werner Sørensen has developed a sustained body of large format archival pigment prints exploring abstraction, scale, and spatial rhythm. The works unfold as an ongoing investigation into surface, movement, and material presence.

Archival Prints 2022. Each 163 x 130 cm on Somerset 300 gsm cotton paper. Mounted in an ash wood frame with Tru Vue glass, 180 x 147 cm.

Vrå Udstillingen 2022

These abstract works unfold through turbulent formations and contrasting structures that move within layered fields. Motifs, shapes, and colours twist and turn kaleidoscopically, generating new images as they shift and recombine.

Some compositions appear dense and clustered, while others dissolve and disperse. It is not always clear where the ground lies, or whether the movement is gathering or spreading.

In a sense, the process resembles archaeology: motifs, lines, and patterns are uncovered, excavated, and reconstructed into new expressions—new narratives of movement and change. From one comes the other.

Ancient Movements

The digital prints originate in earlier paintings and graphic works. Here analogue meets digital. Motifs from paintings and prints are processed digitally in a deliberate way, allowing room for controlled experiments and new constructions.

Although produced digitally, the works retain an organic quality, and the same sense of movement and constant transformation persists. Motifs, shapes, and colours are twisted and recombined to generate new images.

The material already exists. Motifs, lines, and patterns are uncovered, dissected, and digitally reconstructed. This process reveals new expressions—new narratives of movement and change.
