Rift series. Lithographic Print
The Rift Series redefines stone lithography as a field of unique, hand-pulled variations, each printed by the artist as an act of material authorship.
Printed directly from stone in a consistent format of 50 × 65 cm (BFK Rives 250 g), the works unfold as individual impressions rather than a fixed edition.
The motifs are drawn by hand with brush and lithographic tusche, applied in washes directly onto the stones (approx. 43 × 54 cm). Produced at the Danish Art Workshops in Copenhagen, the prints were pulled exclusively by the artist on a Takach handpress. Working alone within an experimental process, I retain control of every stage — from stone preparation to inking, registration, and the final pull — allowing decisions to remain responsive to the material.
The first impressions are printed in black and halftones — technically demanding areas where precision meets unpredictability — followed by varying colour tones, printed singly or in layered combinations. Rather than pursuing identical repetition, the process embraces subtle shifts in pressure, saturation, and layering.
Working within abstraction, the images unfold between drawing and image. Technical constraints and serial processes generate both structure and unpredictability. Each print stands independently, while together they form a cohesive and evolving body in which variation becomes structure rather than deviation.
The prints are marked E.T. (Eget Tryk), a Danish tradition in which the artist carries out the entire printing process. There is rarely a fixed edition; each impression bears visible traces of its making, even when the motif is repeated.
Eget Tryk reflects artistic presence and autonomy — a commitment to material understanding, immersion, experimentation, and craftsmanship within the graphic tradition.
