Visual artists Nanna Riis Andersen and Bjarne Werner Sørensen have come together to exhibit paintings, drawings, graphics and ceramic works at this year's autumn exhibition at Hirtshals Lighthouse.

They both work in an abstract non-figurative idiom with references to natural phenomena and something physically recognizable. And both are concerned with water as a connecting element between cells and bodies. Water as a flowing through, and thus also a musical element, where tension fields constantly arise between the fluid and the limitless, and then a unifying form.

Nanna Riis Andersen

Nanna Riis Andersen (b.1985) is a Danish artist based in Ringsted. She is educated at the Jutland Art Academy, from which she graduated in 2012. She works with drawing, painting and sculpture, and her visual language is detailed and seems to be constantly changing. Sources and references range from the anatomy of the human body to organic patterns and structures, which are woven together in her artistic universe.

Danish-Faroese Bjarne Werner Sørensen (b.1960) lives and works in Copenhagen. He is educated at the Jutland Academy of Arts, from which he graduated in 1985. He works with painting, graphic prints and ceramic works that are based on energetic compositions with movement, rhythm and contrast in several layers. An effort to maintain transformations and create images of movement in an increasingly fluctuating world.
